How To Set A Goal

It is equally difficult to know your goals as how to set one. What is a goal? It is a result or achievement towards which effort is directed. This is a simple definition of a goal. But not all goals are reached and sometimes unreachable heights can be attained within a short span of time. The former was actually a weak prayer and the latter is a long awaited passion hidden within the one who reach it. The formula for success is therefore a product of a passion and then planning./>

Ms Jean Yip started the makeover business 20 years ago she did not think that her business will become a success story. All she knew was that she had been in love making people beautiful. That was her sincere passion. The only pre requirement in a goal setting is passion. After you have identified your passion it is time for planning.

If you had watched Art Attack you will realise two important steps to bring out realistic paintwork. The first is outline and the second is the detailing.

Outline

The simplest form of any drawing is the outline. If you cannot draw the outline of the image it is tedious to excel in art. Take for example, a bowl of fruits. The oval shapes of grapes, the round shapes of oranges and heart like shape of apples and the crescent shape of bananas must at least be drawn in pencil first.

I have the passion for art during my teen age. I was really obsessed with it. My favourite artist is an Indonesian artist by the name bakoi. Well I think that was his name as it was seen imprinted in every art of his. His natural flair of his paintwork attracted my attention. In fact I did learn from his paintings. In my opinion he was as original as Da Vinci’s code in paintings.

Outline your most important goal in your mind and try to draw out a picture of what you want in life. The process of outlining your dream cannot be pictured in one day. Take your time to draft your passion in mind or in writing. Write out a few sentences each day why you need to put your passion into practice.

Detail

Once I was in my 9th year of school life when I have the opportunity to meet an enthusiastic art teacher. One day she placed a bowl of flowers in the centre of the class and instructed the students to paint the still life. I felt very confident of this project and I quickly started to focus on it anxiously. I have done this kind of work whenever I was at home at least twice every day.

When the students were ordered to stop she went around picking out the ‘Michelangelo’ of the class. Guess what. When she approached my seat she stopped instantaneously. She picked up my masterpiece and pin it up in the class notice board. Her reason for my good work was that my paintings had excellent detailing.

Likewise, the second step of a goal is to find out how to set pathways to reach to the destination. The pathways have to be meticulous detailing.

I had the opportunity to invite quotations for an opening ceremony. The main event was going to be held in open space sheltered by a tentage. 3 suppliers of tentage companies were invited to submit the quotations. All of them were of the opinion of making a simple tentage. But I want to give much detail to the tentage to make it glamorous as most of the event programme will happen here. If the ambience was comfortable the visitors will remember the opening ceremony forever. Though the goal was the opening ceremony the detailing was given a bold shading around the tentage arena.

First Step First

A pyramid is built on a first stone. A mountain peak is reached when someone on its foot once took that first step. The beginning of every goal is to know your passion and then to write out a detail plan.
